Homestay Hosts Needed – Join us in supporting the Craft School’s mission to bring heritage crafts to our community—there are always opportunities to get involved! This season, we’re hosting several traveling instructors, and providing a Homestay is a wonderful way to lend a hand. (Click here to scroll to homestay requests.)
Homestay Hosts provide:
– Bed
– Bathroom
– Linens & towels
– Kitchen use
– Coffee/tea/light breakfast items (i.e.: bagels, scones, fruit)
Additional perks appreciated, but not expected:
– Provide dinner one evening
– Allow use of laundry facilities
– Space for the instructor to park their vehicle (often a suv, van, or truck)
Information that is helpful for us to know so we can make a good match:
– Children in the household
– Pets in the home
– Please let us know if you have any specific requirements (e.g., no smoking)
What do Hosts receive?
– An invitation to the annual Waterford Foundation Volunteer party in November
– 1 three-day Waterford Fair pass for each instructor hosted – pass can be used or
given to others. Value: $65 each
– A huge thank you from the Foundation for contributing to the success of the Waterford Craft School program. Our instructors do not receive travel stipends. For many of our instructors, paying for a hotel makes coming to Waterford prohibitive. Homestays help us provide vibrant programming, attracting artisans that are masters of their craft and who may live outside a reasonable commuting distance.
We have had instructors stay with the same host for several years! If you have hosted in the past and prefer to have a new guest, no problem, just let us know. Meeting new people is always fun!
