Michelle Nevarr
“I am ever inspired by the beauty of nature, in all types of weather, in every season. I hope to share a moment, the feeling, that serves as my muse and allow the viewer to reflect with their own appreciation.”
Michelle Nevarr is a lifelong artist who works with a variety of mediums. A painter and textiles artist since childhood, and a native of Washington, DC, she is a gallery-represented artist who has been fortunate to study under several artists–including Albert Handell and Ruth Soper Wilburn.
Her textile works are a practice in meditation, weaving natural materials in repeated fashion to create works of art from crochet, knitting, weaving and macrame.
Her paintings are inspired by light and the play of shadow and illumination in nature. Michelle seeks to share the feeling invoked by moments of solitude in the beautiful mountains that surround her home. She is currently best known for her abstracted landscapes that allow the viewer to seek their own meaning in a well known subject.
She has had several one-woman shows and received prizes and awards for her work
throughout Virginia. Her art is found in private and public collections nationwide. Michelle lives and creates in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia and teaches aspiring artists of all ages.
