Description: Learn how to build and operate a portable stacked-brick oven, and how to make and bake pizza and flatbread, all in the same day!
Using fire bricks that are available on-site, students will follow the class handout, working together to build an outdoor oven. Part of the morning will also be spent making kindling safely using a manual wood splitter. Once the wood is prepared and the oven is built, you will fire it up so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor later in the afternoon. After lunch, students will learn how to prepare various doughs, then use them to bake and enjoy pizza, naan, and pita bread at the end of class.
Information on other outdoor ovens will be included in the handout, and oven site selection will be discussed, too.
