Description: Working from direct observation in the National Historic Landmark of Waterford, VA, students will develop an acrylic landscape painting on canvas using a layered glazing method. Quick sketches and reference photographs also will be used to create the underpainting; further developing the scene through layers of glazing. This class includes a pre-recorded canvas prep Zoom (Students must prepare their canvas in advance of class), and the five-hour, in-person session. Students interested in a follow-up critique will send a picture of their painting sometime in the first 10 days following the in-person session. David will review the images, and prepare a collective critique with suggestions and comments. It will be posted on the Waterford Foundation’s private YouTube channel for review at the students’ convenience.
Please note: If you do not already own painting supplies, students will need to purchase additional supplies in advance of class, which run approx $170. Please email [email protected] to request the supply list before you register.
