  • Work in the manner of the Shakers.

  • Take home a versatile and beautiful hand-woven basket.

Instructor: Karen Wychock

Class Length:  One day

Date: Saturday, June 1: 9am — 5pm

No. of Students:  Minimum 3, Maximum 10

Tools: All tools and materials will be supplied by the instructor.  Because we are soaking our material in water, you may want to bring along a towel or wear an apron.

Description: Working over a wooden mold in the manner of the Shakers, students will be weaving a basket of reed, ash and oak.  The body of the basket will be woven of reed with oak handles and runners.  The rims will be made of pre-bent reed.  Students may choose to add color to their basket or keep it natural.  There will be a variety of dyed reeds available for embellishment.  This basket works very well as a cake/pie basket as well as a small picnic basket.
