Introduction to Stained Glass


The beauty of light and color —  caught and refracted in glass.

Students will begin by learning the history and progression of stained glass art. The craft utilizes multiple skills and precision –  drafting the window pattern, choosing the appropriate color scheme, cutting the glass, leading or foiling the glass, soldering and finish work.

  • Learn the history and progression of stained glass.

  • Learn the basics of design and construction of stained glass.

  • Leave with a hanging stained glass window.

Instructor: Michael Aylward

Class Length:  Two day

Date: Saturday June 6 – Sunday June 7, 2020

No. of Students:  Minimum 3, Maximum 12

Tools: The instructor will provide a beginner kit and pre-designed patterns. Tools and materials to create the window will also be provided.

Description: Students will draw and create a hanging stained glass window. Students will have access to multiple sheets of art glass, with different colors and textures. Framing will be available.
