Introduction To Broom Making

Student will learn how to use traditional methods and natural materials to make beautiful and functional Appalachian brooms.

  • Learn how to make two broom types using traditional Appalachian methods.

  • Make two of your own brooms to bring home!

  • Learn about the tools and natural materials used in traditional Appalachian broom-making.

Instructor: Gary Robinson

Class Length:  Two day

Date: Saturday, May 4  9am — 5pm;  Sunday, May 5 9am — 3pm

No. of Students:  Minimum: 3, Maximum: 10

Tools: Students should bring a notebook to write in.

Description: Learn how to make a cobweb broom and hand broom using traditional Appalachian methods. Handcraft two brooms of your own to keep!
